Accidental archeology: 'Watchung' where you walk

If you're quick, you have a chance to glimpse a bit of Plainfield history.

An accidental archeological site has been revealed downtown by the street repaving project.


Get thee to the corner of Front and Watchung before the new asphalt is laid.

See trolley tracks heading west toward Park Avenue.

Observe the curve as the eastbound rails make the turn south onto Watchung Avenue.

With the gas prices going up, up, up, I think a trolley would be a good way to get around town.

Yes, yes, I know I'm just dreaming.
