Button, Button, Who's Got the Button

Well! (As Jack Benny used to say.)

It's more than six months to the April filing date for the June primary, but what did seniors see Tuesday? One person passing out mayoral birthday treats - fruit, snacks, candy, cereal - while flaunting a campaign button.

The evidence at the senior center merely corroborated rumors of an early campaign.

Of course, the incumbent has the advantage of holding center stage. Conversely, the incumbent must wear all the lapses of the present regime (fill in your own blanks).

Will there be anybody to challenge the campaign?

Technically, challengers need not present themselves until the filing date, but with an incumbent running full blast, does it not behoove opponents to fulminate early and often?

Are there any challengers out there?

Maria, I think you should run, or maybe Bernice should run, hell maybe i'll even run. Anything is better than what we've already got in there!!!! We all want change for the better so what could be more fitting than that?

Maria - you are extremely deluded if you think running a blog has equipped you to be Mayor.

However... it would if nothing else provide some comic relief, perhaps you should.

Tell me, what equipped Sharon Briggs to run for Mayor? Yes, I remember - she agreed to be the mouth piece for Assemblyman Jerry Green and the pay-to-play crowd that brought under-worked and over-paid out-of-towners such as Economic Developement Director Jenny Maier and Public Safety Director Martin Helwig to Plainfield. If you want to blame someone for the demise of MRH, pot-holed streets, housing deterioration and other quality of life issues, look no further than our "dressed to the nines" Mayor Briggs with her penchant to buy votes by providing meals (at tax payers expense) wherever she goes.

Bernice,
If Plainfileld voters were looking for an educated, savy, get the job done person, I can think of no one better qualified for Mayor of Plainfield than Maria Pellum.
