Green with Enmity No More

Drumroll please!

Plainfield's ever-expanding blog roll - Dan, Bernice, Maria, olddoc, Rashid, Cory, Renata, Greg, VWB, Augustine - has a new entrant, none other than our own Assemblyman Jerry Green!

Yes, the man to whom blogs and bloggers are anathema has now got his posting on with "Jerry Green's Page," billed as featuring "plain truths, real solutions" about his role in the Queen City and in Trenton.

The tone of the blog is refined and moderate. He welcomes comments and asks that you bring an open mind to his new little corner of the blogosphere. Maybe it's a case of "if you can't fight 'em, join 'em."

Considering that Green has to run for election next year along with his protege, the mayor, it's a clever way to showcase what he's done for the people. His chairmanship of the Democratic City Committee is also up just after the June 2009 primary.

The blog doesn't exactly have the voice we are most familiar with from Jerry. Right or wrong? But it's a voice, and there's plenty to talk about between now and next June.

There's no initiation ritual that I know of for bloggers. But just as military folks make an archway of swords for welcoming rituals, maybe all of us bloggers can make a virtual arch of pointy sticks or somesuch and cry "Huzzah!"

Who is his ghost writer? He is not even computer literate.

Just curious, Bernice. When someone responds to a blog as Anonymous, does the blogger know the email from where the response is coming, or is it totally anonymous?

If it is the former, I think there is an ulterior motive; if it is the latter, hang on to your seat, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Yes, who is Green's ghost writer? Inquiring minds want to know. Many of the people who work and have worked in his office in the past have attested to his continuing computer illiteracy.

I suspect that whatever "accomplishments" he lists will be closely scrutinized and analyzed by other bloggers for truth and accuracy. Unfortunately, it's probably going to be the same nasty and negative stuff that his henchpeople distribute during the campaign season. Green has never put a moratorium on that. Plainfield along with the other 9 towns Green represents looks forward to hearing about his accomplishments. We already know about the harm he has done. This will give the other towns an opportunity to know what he has done for them.

About anonymous postings:

The system does not know who you are so if you select "anonymous" that's all the blog owner sees. There is no place on the form to capture an email address.

BIG EXCEPTION: If you have a Blogger account or any account that is part of the Google network - Gmail, for instance - AND if you are SIGNED IN - then yes you will be recognized in a fashion. (The comment form offers you options when you submit your comment.) For example, if OLDDOC is signed to his Blog, then comes over to the Plaintalker and posts a comment, it will show up as "OLDDOC said..." and it will add a link to his profile.

Of course you can always take credit for what you post here, or over at Jerry's site, by simply signing your name.

Most sincerely yours,
Barbara Kerr

Right Barbara,Olddoc will express his opinions popular or not,but he finds no need to hide. I am sure he will never be vicious or nasty just for the thrill and high of self powerjf that some anonymous seek.

In response to the second comment, the ride on the assemblyman's website won't be as bumpy as you think. He's chosen the "comment moderation" option for his blog -- as have Dan and Bernice -- meaning he first must approve comments before they're posted. One can expect not to read anything overly critical on his site, or on any other one that operates this way.
