Three Meetings Tonight

The Plainfield Education Association's Candidates' Forum is today, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Plainfield High School cafeteria. The union plans to make an endorsement by March 30.

Later, at 8 p.m., the City Council resumes its budget sessions. Last week's budget meeting was canceled. Instead of the planned forward look at the fiscal year that begins July 1, the council is still talking about the 2009 budget for the fiscal year ending June 30. Surreal as it sounds, that budget has not yet been passed.

The first budget meeting coincided with a program on re-entry sponsored by Jerry Green and there was no quorum. Tonight the mayor is having a meeting, 7 p.m. at Washington Community School. Click here for the flyer. Not sure how it affect the council meeting.

If the Mayor can't coordinate her calendar and schedules such an important meeting at the same time a council meeting is going on, how can anyone expect her to coordinate anything related to governing a city?

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some politicians can be!

When was this announced? This is the first I'm hearing about it and I stay up on city events and meetings. What is this mayor trying to pull? She is desperately trying to be the center of attention but lacks the sense to let her constituents know about meetings in a timely fashion. Shes got to go.

Usually Council budget meetings have a grand total of 2 to 4 citizens. Wonder why the whole city has to stop to allow 2-4 citizens to participate.

Never ceases to amaze me how stupid some who sit at home and pass judgment all the time can be!!

RE: 6:55 PM Post

That's like saying -

Let's go ahead and pass this 50% increase in the City's budget since only 2-4 citizens will care enough to complain.

Although it's a COUNCIL meeting - I always felt MAYOR'S should be in attendance also.

Who is talking about a 50% increase in the City's budget? It just ain't so! Are you trying to scare people so they'll vote for Mapp?
