Correction on Cable Advisory Board

Peter R. Briggs, former chairman and current member of the Cable Television Advisory Board, wrote to remind me that Comcast had an automatic five-year renewal of their contract. My apologies for the lapse.

The mayor's husband is misstating the renewal clause, Bernice. It wasn't to be an automatic renewal with no comment on Comcast's performance and delivery of services to the public! For example, we are supposed to have a school channel--where is it? Comcast has tried to back out of providing that second channel--the cable board, the council, and the city administrator and mayor all have a responsibility to hold them accountable to us.

The cable advisory board had a fiduciary responsibility to make Comcast live up to the terms of the contract--they decided to forgo this--another example of the administration's utter irresponsiblity and contempt for the public.
