Keep an Eye on Rahway Rising
The developer who has the only project in Plainfield to get off the ground since 2006 also has projects in Rahway. To keep tabs on Dornoch, one needs to check the Rahway Rising blog, which has a new post about The Savoy.
The Plainfield project, The Monarch, has seen a few more condo sales recently. One thing Plaintalker needs to do is to check the status of the roof garden. It was meant to be shared by the seniors and the condo residents. However, its original plan was watered down to look more like a deck than a garden. The city has suggested a more garden-like design, composed by landscape architect April Stefel of the Planning Division. As the weather breaks, perhaps the planting can begin.

Is funny..." the city suggested "...
In other "real" communities throughout NJ and the rest of the country and perhaps a lot of the industrial world... the cities " INSTRUCT, TELL, GUIDE, and ORDER " developers what to do. In Plainfield, we walk up to developers and say " please Sir, may I have another ?? ". The conversation would have been simple in other cities in NJ. Try this...-
" No, the plan was designed like this and that is what we approved. You WILL complete it the way we approved or you will not be issued any necessary certificates and documents allowing you to see your condos."
Pat aid: and of course April was laid off. So much for that.
Until Plainfield gets over its second class mentality, including thinking that C-Town is a step in the right direction, we will never be more than second class citizens. And I thought that was over.
I know you wont post this either, but I am going to give you another shot. Until the city stops thinking that all residents are section 8 and welfare recipients, nothing will change. The outside world sees it as that because that is what the city is portrayed as. The Monarch, in another city or economy, might have sold out by now. Who knows? Lets get the units selling before we worry about the garden roof terrace. Make a date that it is due by. Sell x amount of units, then require it be completed before issuing final CO's.
