Carter Says Goodbye

Interim Schools Superintendent Peter E. Carter has posted his final letter to the Plainfield community. Click here to read it.

Carter, Interim Board Secretary/Business Administrator Michael Donow and Interim Assistant Superintendent Walter Rusak, also the interim high school principal, are all leaving at the end of the month.

It is unclear how all the posts will be filled as the district continues to search for a permanent superintendent and high school principal. Plaintalker will try to follow events as they unfold.

The Dec. 18 Board of Education meeting, 7 p.m. at Cook School, is a very important one. Unfortunately, it conflicts with a City Council public hearing on the introduced Fiscal Year 2008 budget. Interested citizens will have to choose one.

Plainfield mayoral mentor and Democratic Party chairman Assemblyman Jerry Green has suggested that there might be a referendum in 2008 to return to an appointed school board. More on that later.
