Ads on PPS?
What's with the Somerset Savings Bank ad on the PPS web site? Is it a leftover from the copied article from the Courier News or what?
The boundaries of all media are blurring, but surely a school district web site should not have advertisements.
Or am I just being picky?

It appears to be a cut out from the Courier News online article. Problem an oversight. You might be a little picky, though.
I don't know if I would call it being picky, but rather observant. You could have mentioned the fact that very little on the site is from a creative writer's perspective and further the updates occur every 3-4 days. That's neither current or useful which is the definition of "News" as I understand it... Otherwise it is classified as OLD NEW!
The district should "uncheck" this box on their report card because putting it up doesn't make it a "value" to the community. Real time -- all the time -- and ON TIME information -- that's not just a lift from other other sources without no writer's commentary -- now that's communication at it's finest.
Keep on keeping on Bernice!
I don't think you're being picky. A school based website should not have ads...pure and simple. I am sure it was not intential, but definitely worth pointing out for future consideration.
I think you are being way to hard on Mr. Jones. He is making an effort and we sure do know a lot more now then we ever have before.
Maybe he is too busy with all these site visits and program reviews twice a week at all the school.
A school website has no place for paid ads, that's simple a no,no.
As for the previous comment, please, not only Mr. Jones receives a 80K+ annual salary, but he also enjoys the benefit of having his own secretary.
And if you want to go softy on Mr. Jones, then can anyone please tell me what are the two other community relations employees doing?
Even Dr. Gallon has said it himself, Plainfield must get out of the "ghetto mentality" and strive for more than compliance. Best practices from all Departments should be expected and demanded from all.
I disagree with the previous comment. Since Mr. Jones is the new PR coordinator, it's his responsibility to check for these errors. You should not make the excuse that he is too busy. We are all busy but when a mistakes arises on my watch, I will take the necessary actions to correct said mistake. Apparently he has not.
Mr. Jones is doing a terriffic job. PPS is way ahead of where it was just a few months ago under a prior public information person. I am sure that this issue will be corrected as it clearly a mistake---trying to give the community information on the district. Keep up the great work Mr. Jones.
I guess if you are use to eating oatmeal and now you get raisins to add to it...you would be satisfied with the communications changes.
But I's like Eggs (over medium), bacon and grits -- please.
Plainfield STOP SETTLING for second best!
If you local news papers only update it circulation every 3-4 days you would find that sufficient? Good grief!
It's a half baked effort at best!
