Block 832 Pole Finally Replaced

This Verizon pole shattered on Sept. 9 when a nearby tree crashed, tearing down wires and vines. The impact and weight pulled off the top of the pole. Here, workers remove the remains.

A huge auger is used to clean out and widen the hole. It was a challenge to work with the tough wisteria roots that were tangled in the corner.

A 35-foot new pole made of Georgia pine is readied for insertion in the hole in our yard.

All set! Workers reattached the wires that had been strung west and south across other properties. Somehow the wires themselves were not harmed in the Sept. 9 incident, so customers did not lose service.

Thanks to the Fire Division that responded on Sept. 9 and the Police Division that checked later and got Verizon on the case. To see a blog post on the original incident, click here. It took a bit of work to piece together what happened.

The Verizon workers were very efficient and thanks to them as well.

I just finished reading Jerry Green's blog for the past week and I have one question - What in the heck is he talking about? For someone who wants transparency in writing, his "usual suspects", thrown under the bus, and palinism blogs are as clear as mud.

When I read his blog I feel like I am listening to Sarah Palin answer questions from Katie Couric.
