What's on Your Mind?
Consider this post sort of like public comment at the City Council. I would prefer that you sign your name or at least initials, and comments will be screened for propriety. If you can express yourself on a city topic without ad hominem attacks, here's the spot.

Hi Bernice,
Great idea. Hope residents take advantage of the space.
I just looked at the agenda at Rashid Burney's website for this coming week and the agenda is full of opportunities for residents to voice their opinions.

Hi, Bernice,
I am hopeful that we will have a new mayor. I have lived in Plainfield for over 12 years, and have seen the changes since then. Robinson-Briggs has done nothing to move the city forward, and her mentor, Jerry Green, has done nothing but attempt to bully anyone who doesn't agree with him and his way of doing business. I have seen him in action in public berating voters and its reprehensible that a grown man would speak that way to anyone, much less people who have supported him. He promised us a lot with Robinson-Briggs, that we as a town would be able to work well with the county and state. In addition, all he and the mayor have done is bash the late Al McWilliams, who left behind a legacy with much to be proud of. McWilliams formed his own Democratic club the New Democrats because the old machine politics didn't seem to be the way to go. I used to believe like others that being part of the machine would in the end help Plainfield. What did we get under the Jerry Green and Sharon Robinson-Briggs machine? Nothing but a bloated budget that still has not passed and a bunch of patronage positions. I am not going to sign my name, if you don't mind, because I am a private person and don't want to be hounded and demonized by Green and the mayor's supporters. I hope you will print my comment.
Hey Bernice,
Having a forum for people to post thoughts, comments, etc. without being "off topic" in posts about your regular coverage is a great idea. Lots of other blogs do Open Threads. I hope this works out as a "regular feature" on the Plaintalker.

I would like to know why the town council has not responded to my request for what the "solid waste contribution" to PMUA of $1.2 million is for. I went around to the "parks" and couldn't believe my eyes!

The downtown would look SO Nice if they would paint parking spots like they do in Westfield, Scotch Plains and Summit.Especaily down by the old Liberty Theater. I wanted to try some of the Spanish dishes I have heard about, but parking or turning corners is a full contact sport.
I have lived in Plainfield for almost 11 years and have never shopped downtown, which is a pity because I would rather spend my hard earned money in my own town instead of someone elses. There is nothing that draws me downtown. We don't have a major supermarket so again, I have to spend my money in another town. I have a book about Plainfield in it's hey day and boy I just can't figure out what happened. Is it the lack of pride? Lack of true leadership? Homeowners aren't as attentive to their properties like they used to be...oh yeah, that's because they are now rental units and rooming houses.
