This is a sight that will not be seen in Spring 2010 on Block 832, a tall pine tree draped in wisteria. Our neighbor severed all the vines last year as part of a massive cleanup of his back yard in anticipation of a big party. Wisteria can be a nuisance, but this sight was one I always enjoyed in spring.
The wisteria vine dropped about a zillion seeds as it was being destroyed , so perhaps in a couple of years it will recreate the effect of a huge, lavender drapery.
I have been reporting on Plainfield for more than 30 years, first at the Plainfield Today weekly, then at the Courier News and after retirement on the Plainfield Plaintalker blog and its successor, Plaintalker II.

Irreplaceable beauty sacrificed for a party.
What a shame.
