July Meetings

A legal notice today (July 4, 2008) announced three Board of Education items. The board will hold its agenda-fixing session 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 in the Plainfield High School conference room. The annual retreat is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July12 in the Emerson Swing School, 1700 W. Front St.; and the business meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 in the Washington Community School cafetorium.

The public may attend the retreat, but only to observe. No public comment will be taken. Past retreats have been held out of town at greater cost, but this board is well aware of state scrutiny of Abbott district expenses lately.

For some reason, the listings are not up on the district web site. The only thing at the bottom of the home page is a 5/5 advisory about registrations that were supposed to end June 14. Maybe it will be fixed next week.

The City Council meets on Monday, July14 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall Library and on Monday, July 21 at 8 p.m. in Municipal Court. There are only nine agenda-fixing sessions and eight regular meetings left in 2008. Surprise your elected representatives by showing up and asking questions!
