Scenes from Mayor's Visit to Seniors

Lots of young people were on hand July 1 at the Senior Center. Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs greeted and shook hands with each youngster. Here, Mazie Wormley is pictured with her granddaughter, Xirena, 17, as they enjoy making jewelry.

In the absence of singer Gloria Spence, others volunteered to offer songs. Hattie B. Allen sang "Wade in the Water" as the mayor kept time.
The mayor was off at noon to attend an event for Wilda Diaz, who upset Joseph Vas to become the new mayor of Perth Amboy.
The mayor meets with seniors at 10:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Even if you are not a senior (Disclaimer: I have been a member since turning 55 in 1993), come visit and get to know your community elders.
The mayor usually has some news and Plaintalker will address some of that in a separate blog post.
