Three Branches
Every time I think I must give up my New Yorker subscription after 50 years, I see an article or cartoon that convinces me to keep paying that ever-increasing price.
The most recent example is a cartoon depicting a teacher telling her students, "Today we'll be discussing the three branches of government -- executainment, legislatainment, and judiciatainment."
If the Jan. 1 meeting ever goes on Channel 74, you can experience four hours of legislatainment for yourself.

Sounds like it was not transformational but transertainment change you saw on Jan 1st.
Let me add to that: To help the lowering taxes the city can now start charging for city council meetings.
Although you don't need sound to read cartoons, don't hold your breath waiting for channel 74 to provide anything other than further embarrassment for the city. For over a week now (possibly longer but I hadn't checked!), Channel 74 has not had sound. I have watched old footage of the mayor and her friends on a trolley ride around town, and endless still photos of the mayor's photo opportunities at public events (all outdated). Who is minding the store? Did they finally fire the staff? We hear that the council is on top of this, as Councilman Burney has been focusing on this. If that is so, why is it that after at least one week of viewing silent (and outdated) city council meetings, I am still viewing this? Do the mayor and her administration not listen to Council President Burney? Is there some reason why they feel that he and the council and the residents (first and foremost!) should not be respected? This is ridiculous.
Riduculous is is being tooo kind in describing this embarrassing display of public incompetence. From what I have heard we may have been spared by having no sound. Apparrently there was nothing really being said by our MAYOR.
